If you know how to turn a mp3 into a Wav file and are familiar with using a .cue sheet to burn a disc image then you can skip all this.... if you don't have a clue what a .cue sheet is for then read on.... I use NERO 6 to burn all of my cd's so the steps I will talk about refer to using NERO 6. . .you can happily use any other burning software you wish and a large majority of them allow the use of .cue sheets but you are on your own figuring out the use of other software.
step one - run "nero start smart" application ( double click the icon or choose "nero start smart" from start-->programs-->nero
step two - once start smart is open, you will see 6 icons across the top of the window, if you mouse over them they tell you what they are and change icons in the bottom half of the start smart window. you should see "favorites data audio photo and video copy and backup extras" move your mouse over the music note icon ( which is the 3rd icon from the left ) you will see some icons in 2 columns . . . . . left click once, the first icon in the first column that says "make audio cd" start smart window will minimize and nero burning rom will open in audio mode in a new window...the window will be split - the right side is a file browser and the left side is audio1 where you can put audio files to burn to a cd.
step three - on the very top of the nero burning rom window you should see FILE EDIT VIEW RECORDER EXTRAS DATABASE WINDOW HELP left click once on EXTRAS a drop down box opens and the first choice is "ENCODE FILES" single left click on that and it will spawn a encode files window left click once on "ADD" which will spawn a file browser "OPEN" window find the DJ-Mezmic--turkeyday-2005-drum-and-bass-mix.mp3 file on your hard drive double left click the mp3 file and after a couple of seconds you will be back to the encoding window with the dj mezmic mp3 file listed under source look at the bottom of the encoder window and make sure of the following output file format PCM Wav file (*.wav; *.wave) click the settings button on the right and make sure it says Frequency 44100 Bits 16 channels Stereo now look at the target file DJ-Mezmic--turkeyday-2005-drum-and-bass-mix.wav you can click browse button next to the target file name if you want to save the wave file to another directory ( you will need about 747-760 megs of free space on your hard drive ) make ABSOLUTELY SURE the file name is EXACTLY as I have it ( It IS case sensitive DJ and M are uppercase letters ) and make sure you save the .WAV file to the same directory as the .CUE file when you are ready click the "GO" button a progress window will open and depending on the speed of your computer it could take a few minutes or longer to process the track when the progress window closes you can close the encoder window you are now back to the nero burning rom audio1 window . . . you can close out of that by clicking the X in the upper right corner once you close that, nero start smart window will reopen ( if it doesn't just launch start smart again)
step four - from the start smart window, mouse over the "COPY AND BACKUP" icon single left click " burn image to disc" start smart closes, and nero burning rom window appears with a "OPEN" file browser window you NEED! to have the .cue file in the same directory as the "DJ-Mezmic--Turkeyday-2005-drum-and-bass-mix.wav" file that you made with the encoder from the step above or this will NOT WORK find the DJ-Mezmic--Turkeyday-2005-drum-and-bass-mix.cue and double left click it if the .wav file and the .cue file are in the same directory and both file names match DJ-Mezmic--Turkeyday-2005-drum-and-bass-mix.cue DJ-Mezmic--Turkeyday-2005-drum-and-bass-mix.wav a burn compilation window will open put in a blank cd-r and click burn THAT'S IT - you can now enjoy skipping around the 18 tracks
